Overview of the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program

The Grenada Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program was established in August 2013, allowing individuals and their families to obtain citizenship through significant economic contributions. This initiative is designed to attract foreign investment into the country, thereby supporting its economic development. The program has gained popularity due to its straightforward application process and the numerous benefits it offers to successful applicants.

Investment Options

To qualify for Grenadian citizenship, applicants must choose one of two primary investment options:

National Transformation Fund (NTF): This option requires a minimum contribution of USD 235,000. The NTF is aimed at financing various projects that contribute to the economic growth of Grenada. Contributions are utilized in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure development.

Real Estate Investment: Applicants can invest a minimum of USD 270,000 in government-approved real estate projects. This option not only qualifies them for citizenship but also allows them to acquire property in Grenada, which can serve as an investment asset.

Both options require thorough due diligence processes, including background checks on applicants to ensure they meet the program’s integrity standards.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the CBI program, applicants must meet specific criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a clean criminal record.
  • Provide necessary documentation such as a valid passport, proof of investment, health insurance, and other supporting documents.
  • Include dependents in their application if desired; this can include spouses, children, and dependent parents or siblings.

Application Process

The application process for obtaining Grenadian citizenship is designed to be efficient and uncomplicated:

  1. Preparation of Application Pack: Interested individuals will receive an application pack from Henley & Partners, which includes detailed instructions and required documentation.
  2. Submission of Application: Once all documents are prepared and verified for completeness and accuracy, they are submitted for processing.
  3. Due Diligence Checks: The government conducts thorough background checks on all applicants to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  4. Approval and Issuance of Citizenship: Upon successful completion of the vetting process, applicants will receive their citizenship approval along with their passports. Notably, there is no requirement for applicants to visit Grenada during this process.
  5. Passport Collection: Henley & Partners coordinates the collection process for passports so that clients do not need to travel to Grenada for this purpose.

Benefits of Grenadian Citizenship

Obtaining citizenship through the CBI program provides several advantages:

  • Global Mobility: Citizens enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 145 countries worldwide, including China and Schengen Area nations.
  • E-2 Visa Eligibility: Grenadian citizens can apply for a U.S. E-2 Investor Visa, allowing them to live and work in the United States.
  • Dual Citizenship: Grenada permits dual citizenship; thus individuals can retain their original nationality while enjoying the benefits associated with being a Grenadian citizen.
  • Quality of Life: Citizens gain access to a stable Caribbean nation known for its natural beauty, vibrant culture, and business-friendly environment.

Overall, the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program presents an attractive opportunity for individuals seeking enhanced global mobility while contributing positively to the local economy.
