UAE Unveils a New and Improved Entry Permit Process for Long-Term Overseas Residents

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has introduced a new program that will enable citizens who have spent more than six months abroad to apply for entrance permits. The entry permit application process will now be streamlined and made more accessible for these individuals.

The program is available to those with residence permits who have had their permits revoked because they spent six months or more abroad for employment, school, or medical reasons. However, Golden residency permit holders won’t be allowed to use the program.

This was announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP)

Individuals must submit a copy of their ID, a copy of their passport, and a justification for why they were unable to enter the country to apply through the service.

The ICP stated in its statement that it is eager to improve the system of services it offers to customers and make it more user-friendly by streamlining procedures, implementing digital transformation across all services, and introducing new services that cater to customers’ needs and address the exceptional circumstances to which they are exposed.
